Doug's Stretching Experiment - Amazing Results!

injury prevention Feb 27, 2020

Doug was feeling tight and had more aches and pains kicking up.  He signed up for a series of stretching sessions that we call "Body Restoration Sessions".

We went at it - 5 days a week for 2-weeks and the results were amazing!  (these sessions are only 15 minutes!)

The thing I'm happiest about is these sessions are so low cost that feeling better should not be limited to those with extra money.

Watch the video and see the effects!

If you are feeling limited mobility.  Like your shoes getting tougher to tie.  It harder to get up and down.  You have knee pain.  Back pain.  Shoulder and neck pain.  These sessions could be a game changer.

You don't have to be a member of our classes to sign-up.  Just call 1(800)380-7047 or email [email protected].

Thank you Doug for being willing to share your experience.

Preventing Shin Splits With 2 Exercises BEFORE you start Walking or Running

injury prevention Feb 25, 2020

This is an Oldie but a goodie.  These 2 exercises are great to start for a few weeks now before the weather breaks.  Try to get to 2 minutes on heel walks (whoa!).  If it burns while you do it you know you are on the right path.  A little burn now can save a bunch of pain later.

P.S. Look at this dude.  12 years ago!  I miss those shoes!  (old studio)

One extra tip is don't over stride when walking or running.  This means take smaller steps to minimize the impact.  Enjoy the coming warmth!

Do you ever wake up in the morning in PAIN?

Hurting yourself while sleeping seems ludicrous but it happens all too frequently.  Bad sleeping positions are usually the culprit.  I got a chance to take a nap on live TV to explain common issues in sleep positions and to share some helpful tweaks.

Watch the Video Below...

This is not an exhaustive explanation, just what we could get through in a TV segment.  I hope it is helpful to those of you dealing with chronic in your Shoulders, Back, Knees, Hips, Neck, or even Plantar Fasciitis!

Preventing the Old Age Slouch/Hunch

I have the repeated honor of appearing on FOX ROCHESTER's morning show "Good Day Rochester" on a monthly basis.  This time I talked about the "old age" slouch which isn't quite old age anymore.

I did forget one of my points that I wanted to make.  (live TV is tough!)  I forgot to mention Wolff's Law that says our bones change based on the stress put on them.  "If you keep making that posture you're going to get stuck that way."

Your bones will actually form to that shape and you might not be able to UNDO what you have done!  While you still can straighten up make sure you are proactively working on this!  Watch the video above for a few ideas on how to fight this.

While I have your attention I wanted to share something I'm pretty excited about!  There are still 5 days left until the end of this boot camp session but our clients are already down:

Knees Hurt?…My Quick Advice

knee pain 300x204 Knees Hurt?...My advice

You aren’t alone! According to a CDC (center for disease control) survey, 18% of adults over 18 years old reported to have experienced knee pain in the previous 30 days.  We deal with an older group than that,  so we see people with knee pain all the time.

Of course this advice would need to be tailored to you specifically and we can do that in a one-on-one session, but this is my quick advice to you.  These are things I look at and encourage for all our clients.

STRETCH

This is #1 – There are some instances of knee pain that you can get to go away almost instantly with just one good stretch while others will take weeks of stretching to go away.  If you are having knee pain,  you might try stretching.  (if you just blew out your knee going to a doctor is a WAY better idea than stretching).

Here is a video of a little known technique that we use with...
