We are having a ....

Jeremy and I are so excited to announce we are having a GIRL!!

 

 

 

Becoming a parent is such a wonderful, magical blessing.  Anna was our little miracle baby.  I wasn’t sure if I could conceive.  My love and connection to her was INSTANT and unlike ANYTHING I have ever experienced. Nothing I doubted or questioned.  I think all parents can relate.

 

Here is where I will get honest.  Having a second child is a little mind boggling to me.  Don’t get me wrong, I am super excited and I know this will be amazing BUT right now we have a pretty awesome family unit.  We flow well.  My love for Jeremy and Anna is something I have not experienced before.  We are NOT perfect and life is NOT easy, but it is a beautiful mess that is OUR beautiful mess and I LOVE IT.   How can I possibly love another child without messing up this established family unit? How can I have enough time, energy and love to spread around to these blessings called MY family?  My mind spins out of control at times.  What did we do?  Crap, there is no turning back…..

 

LOVE has always been something so hard for me to understand and define.  Here’s where I get a little “churchy”.  I am a Christian.  I believe in God.  I believe there is a purpose for my life.  BUT I have always struggled with understanding God’s love for ME.  I grow up hearing “God loves everyone all the same”. “We are ALL special”. BLAH BLAH BLAH… in my cynical red-haired freckled face spirit of mine that didn’t add up.  If we were ALL special then to me that means NO ONE is really special?  Honestly, I have wrestled with this thought my entire life and just decided to wrestle with it.  It would be something I would never fully understand on this side of heaven.

 

BUT, this past year I read something that took a huge part of the struggle out of this for me AND it has been helping me process loving a second child and not having them feel second fiddle.    

 

“I AM UNIQULY FOND OF YOU”   

 

Y’all this statement changes my life!!!!

 

This baby girl is going to be totally different from Anna.  There will be specific things about her that make me uniquely fond of her. There will be things that set Anna apart, a purpose for her life that will and do make me uniquely fond of her.  I will love them both and it will be special but it will be DIFFERENT—and that feels ok to me.  

 

So, let’s turn this around a little.   

THIS APPLY’S to YOU!  

 

God is UNIQULY FOND OF YOU. There is something different and special about you that makes God’s love for you DIFFERENT than everyone else. You have a plan and a purpose for your life that is and looks DIFFERENT than ANYONE else.  You are unique and that makes God’s love for you unique.  

 

Without YOU, that purpose isn’t being filled.  And by purpose I don’t mean being recognized at large for making a difference.  Did you look a stranger in the eyes and smile at them? Did you check in on your elderly neighbor this last snow storm?  Did you hug your kid a little longer? Did you encourage your husband as he was feeling defeated by his job?  Did you take the time to fuel, hydrate and move your body in a way so that you can LIVE your life?  Are you showing up to YOUR UNIQUE life ON PURPOSEbecause ONLY YOU CAN!  

 

I think many of us get into a “robot” like stance going through motions of life.  We are just trying to rush through to get to the end of the day checking all the “to do” boxes not feeling like we really have a purpose at all?   BUT, what if we showed up to OUR ONE LIFE like we have a unique purpose, like we are uniquely loved??  Shoot, what if we just showed up one day a week like that?  I am pretty sure this world we be a better place!

 

How was that for a spiral of thoughts??? 

 

We are so excited to bring this unique little girl into this world.  I can’t wait to uniquely love her! I also, hope to live my life like I am uniquely loved and have a purpose that is just for ME to do!
