It's NOT about perfection BUT progress!

transformation stories Jun 09, 2016

Where did you come from, your starting fitness and nutrition level?

I have struggled with my weight my entire life.  I was a chubby kid in elementary school and because of that often didn’t participate in sports or exercise.  I lost a bunch of weight in middle school (unhealthy weight loss, the kind where my parents were worried because I wasn’t eating) and started having the confidence to try sports.  I played basketball, softball and soccer in high school and loved every minute of it.  I was a healthy weight and exercised almost every day but can’t say that I made good nutritional choices.  Then, off to college.  I came home a good 30 pounds heavier then I started in the fall of my first year.  I was eating too much, making bad food choices and not exercising at all.  Then, life happened.  I graduated, got married, got a full time job (sitting all day) had three kids and all the while I continued to pack on the pounds.  I was successful in losing a significant amount of weight three different times over these years.  The most recent being around 2013 when I lost over 40 pounds.  The programs I did to lose the weight were focused only on nutrition with little or no focus on exercise and I felt they all required perfection.  If I didn’t eat the exact things I was supposed to, then I wouldn’t have the results I wanted.  Then, one bad day would turn into another bad day and then a bad week etc.  Needless to say, that 40-pound weight loss didn’t last long.  I stopped doing the program and quickly went back to my old, BAD habits.  I gained it all back, just as gradually as I had lost it telling myself every day when I stepped on the scale “oh, it’s only 1 or 2 pounds, that’s not so bad” and “it doesn’t matter if I eat  ____, I’m not exercising anyway” or my favorite  “I’ll start being good tomorrow”.  By the time I realized the loop of self-sabotage I was in, it was too late.  I was over 200lbs, the heaviest I had ever been.  I was so frustrated, mad at myself and just down right depressed that I let myself get to that point.

 What inspired you to start?

The one thing that sticks out most in my mind is when my then 6 year old told me I looked like one of the very overweight cartoon characters in the show he was watching.  Then I saw it.  I was forced to see it.  I was forced to look myself and question if that was the way I wanted my family to see me.  I didn’t.  I wouldn’t anymore.  This time it was going to stick.  I had heard great things about Tall Trainer and knew people who had great results, so I signed up for my first month.

What have some of your results been, some of your favorite new abilities?
Since being at Tall Trainer, I have now lost close to 50lbs.  I love running again.  I love being able to chase my kids around and play basketball with them.  I love that I sleep so much better at night.  I love that I am in a healthy routine.  I love mostly that I love exercising, eating right and being healthy and I love knowing that it’s not about perfection, but progress.   At first it was so hard to stick to a nutrition plan and go to boot camp every day.  But now, I can’t imagine my life without that routine.  I can tell you how great Tall Trainer is.  How supportive they are, how concerned about you as an individual they are and about how much they want you to succeed.   I had many people tell me this before I went there.  It sounded great, but you honestly can’t even imagine how great it is until you actually go.  When you’re in it, doing the work and seeing the support you are getting from the staff and all of the friends you will make there, you will understand how Tall Trainer can, and will, change your life.
