Lynn’s Bio
My Back Story
For most of my life, from my teen years and up, I had been overweight and sluggish. Back then it was approximately only a 25 pound excess. As life progressed on, marriage and children, my weight crept higher and higher.
I was never very athletic growing up. When I was a kid I loved climbing things and hanging upside down on bars, playing backyard baseball and was relatively good at it, arm wrestling with the guys at school and usually won! (Until they got older and stronger). I played one season of tennis in my sophomore year in High School but never continued because I didn’t feel I was good enough. I never pushed myself for fear that I was going to die if I went to hard. This was pretty much the extent of my fitness. And nutrition was nonexistent those many years ago. It was all about being skinny. Anyone remember Twiggy?
After High School and a couple of years of college I got married. Then came the babies and being a stay at home mom. Many times over the years I attempted to lose weight but would give up because it was to much work, didn’t go fast enough and I didn’t like having to “give up” foods I enjoyed. Which were usually not the better choices.
Then in my 40’s something “clicked” and I started losing weight. As I neared my 50’s, I got involved in Tall Trainer. That continued my weight loss and retraining of my brain that I can be fit and I won’t die if I breathe hard, LOL. And from this I decided to become a Trainer myself to help others achieve their goals and to realize they can do it too!
As my children grew older, I started working as an aid doing homecare. I always enjoyed helping my patients with walking, working on showing them how to get out of bed and chairs properly and encouraging them to do as much for themselves as they could. I worked at a facility called “Curves for Women” for about 2 years and then in Physical Therapy as an aid and was able to work with patients on their exercise program. I found that to be fascinating work and I believe that this background helped spur me on to where I am today. I became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2012, A Fitness Nutrition Specialist in 2016, and A Functional Aging Specialist in 2018.
Something Personal
I have been married for almost 39 years, have 2 grown sons, 2 beautiful daughter in-laws, and 1 awesome, adorable grandson. I also have a crazy dog named Cody.
I love to read and learn, quilt and be outdoors. I also love to get to the beach as much as possible. Injuries have kept me from enjoying tennis again and also running but I hope that one day I will be able to enjoy those again!!
